#9 Victoria's Secret Uses Facebook As A Marketing Tool

From November 19-30, nine vintage Victoria's Secret angel wings will be on display on Broadway between Houston and Prince streets.  The exhibit will display the wings is sealed Plexiglas cubes where guests can get their photo taken.  The pictures will then be uploaded to the Victoria's Secret Facebook page where users can tag themselves and download the picture.  What a great idea to promote the brand and allow brand loyal customers to engage in an interactive experience! #8 New Show Formats

Many designers and high-end retailers are now incorporating multi-media elements, such as videography, to present their collections to their targeted customers.  

Yves Saint Laurent used a film shown on their website (www.ysl.com) to present their Manifesto Fall/Winter 2010/2011 Woman's Collection.  The model is filmed as she goes down the large staircase in slow motion.  Her outfit changes several times to showcase the line in a multi-media way. This enables the target audience to view the collect from the comfort of their home, no runway necessary!

Edition 24 "The Film, The Look" is another section on the Yves Saint Laurent website that shows 12 of their different looks.  On the right side of the screen a brief description is given about the garments in the "look" and on the right is a quick video of a model moving in the outfit.

#7 Trunk Show

A Trunk Show is a special sale in which vendors (such as Manolo Blahnik, and Watters Bridal) present their merchandise (shoes, wedding dresses) directly to customers at retail locations ( Leli Bridal, Neiman Marcus). This party atmosphere gives the showcased company the opportunity to highlight their products to a zeroed-in target market and make direct sales at the location.

#6 Video Fashion Show

Fashion shows aren't limited to just a cat walk style presentation.   Below is a youtube video that a young women made in the comfort of her own home.  She highlights the separate pieces of her outfit with text instead of vocals, keeping the focus on the garments.  Although the star of this video walks toward and away from the camera, she isn't on a cat walk.  This makes her personal video a casual difference from those on the runway at the Lincoln Center.  Ever consider making your very own fashion show?

#4: Fall 2011 Key Color

According to StyleSight, the color category titled "efficiency and security" will be trending next fall.  This natural colorway is "equally split between warm flesh tones and smoky greys.  Beiges vary from clay to mushroom and toasted almond while greys feature silver, limestone and anthracite."  These tones have been comfortably worn by women for years and allow us to feel relaxed.
